ONE STRANGE ROCK

From the award-winning team of filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (`Black Swan') and producer Jane Root (`America the Story of Us'), this 10-part cinematic event series explores the fragility and wonder of planet Earth -- one of the most peculiar, unique places in the universe.

Host Will Smith guides viewers on an unprecedented exploration, bolstered by an elite group of eight astronauts who provide unique perspectives and relate personal memoirs of the planet seen from a distance.

Hour long episodes delve into monumental events such as genesis, cosmic violence, human intelligence and alien life, oxygen, and survival vs. destruction.

The Opportunity.

  • We can't see Earth from space. Here's one way how.

  • Learning what we come from, offers us a way to see where we're going.

The Solution.

  • One Strange Rock tells the story of Earth in an entertaining and educational way that will surely leave you with a new perspective and feeling for living life. One that's hard to come by any other way.

  • Find more gratitude and humility for the biology and science behind our existence, and our humble relationship with Planet.

"Hundreds of millions of years ago, water cells photosynthesized from sun shining on them, formed bacteria and became heavier so sank to the ocean bedfloor, congregated and formed a bi-product: oxygen. This bi-product was lighter than water so naturally rose to the top of the ocean, and literally pushed out of it, forming our atmosphere, and the way for life to breath out of water, extending today roughly ~6,200 from Earth."

"Oxygen provided single-cell mitochondria a new form of energy to consume, 30 times stronger than anything else. And this is how and why we think multi-cells were formed and sparked life out of water. IE., us."
